Advisory: First Dip Polar Plunge on New Year’s Day Cancelled

Ocean City’s First Night New Year’s Eve celebration goes on as scheduled

OCEAN CITY, N.J. – Due to concerns for public safety in frigid weather conditions, the First Dip polar plunge scheduled for Monday, Jan. 1 in Ocean City has been cancelled.
All other First Night and First Day events will continue as scheduled.
Ocean City’s family-friendly First Night New Year’s Eve celebration features more than 75 entertainment programs at 20 different locations in Ocean City. A fireworks display rings in the New Year at midnight. A complete schedule of events is available at
Admission buttons ($20) are good for all events. They are available online at, by phone at 1-800-BEACH-NJ, or in person at the Welcome Center on the Route 52 causeway, at Stainton’s Square (810 Asbury Avenue) and at City Hall.
First Day T-shirts will be available for a $20 donation to the charitable OCNJ CARE from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ocean City Music Pier.
